¤ I attended the Philly show, and
both Irving Plaza nights. Philly was pretty good. The first
Irving Plaza night was absolutely killer in every way. Which
is what made Monday night all the more disconcerting.
¤ Last night had to be one of the worst concerts
I have ever attended. Ville, quite frankly should be ashamed
of himself for putting forth such an embarrassing and half
assed performance. It's particularly sad because the band
is killing it on every song, and the kids are eating it
up, but Ville doesn't even seem to care or try.
¤ He was so drunk that you couldn't hear 90% of his
vocals because he's singing with such little energy. I'm
really sorry, but it's not the "shitty" sound
system. Every other band's vocal was loud and clear. One
song was performed as Ville laid on floor. During Funeral
of Hearts, the entire 3rd verse and chorus was sang by some
girl as Ville nonchalantly chucked the mic into the crowd.
She sang poorly, but at least you could hear her. There
was no energy, no passion, just endless drunken ramblings,
and hardly any vocals you can hear.
¤ By the last song, Soul on Fire, he wasn't even
attempting to sing the verses. The band seemed visibly upset
as well. He'd just hold on to the mic stand and close his
eyes like his head was spinning, and I guess try to muster
enough energy to do the chorus. And try not to fall over.
¤ It's a sad thing to pay $30-$40 for a ticket, which
I might add was significantly more than the first U.S. tour,
and have the performer practically not show up. What's even
sadder is the place is filled with alot of young kids who
only think Ville's "cool" for being so fucked
up, regardless of how shitty he might sound.
¤ I love HIM. A great band, great singer, great songs,
sound, etc, etc. However I was extemely disappointed by
Monday's Irving Plaza show. Ville needs to decide whether
the music, and his bandmates, and his fans are more important
than being completely shit faced all the time. I've seen
them put on an awesome show and know how potentially great
they can be. But while last night was eye opening, it also
was unfortunately very very sad.
