¤ I got to the Marquee Theatre around
6pm because of previous engagements and to my dismay the
line was already pretty long. I then went to pick up my
ticket and got a chuckle when I seen that it was the 3rd
one sold, I might have bought them too early. Ha-Ha. Anyway,
I got in line around 6:15 and the doors were supposed to
open at 6:30 so I was looking on the bright side and said
at least we will be in soon, boy was I wrong.
¤ I started talking to some people
that really didn't know too much about HIM despite all their
HIM garb. This passed the time so before I knew it was 7:00
and still closed doors. Well after some more talking and
me having to relief myself behind a tree we finally got
into the venue at around 8:15.
¤ As soon as I got in I rushed in by the stage
but all the good spots were taken so I scored a decent place
right in front of the front of house booth. The opening
band for this show was Program the Dead instead of Auf Der
Maur. They were pretty dry, not really my kind of stuff.
The singer was funny though, he was getting the crowd to
yell fuck you at them and he was saying that they were just
the opening distraction. When they went off he asked us
to give them the finger one more time and everyone seemed
more than happy to oblige.
¤ After minimal set up time Monster Magnet took
the stage. Once again its not really my thing but they played
really well and sounded good. They seemed to have a lot
of fans there at the show because they got a really good
response. He dedicated one song to all the people who ever
got ripped off at hot topic. They left the stage at the
end and said that they loved Tempe Arizona.
¤ After about half an hour HIM finally took the
stage, the moment everyone was waiting for. They started
the set with BABL and it sounder awesome. Valo's voice was
sounding very raspy and when he was talking between songs
it sounded like he had a cold or something, he would try
to hit high notes and just couldn't do it. But all and all
he sounded great considering. The next song was 666 followed
by Sacrament and Wicked Game.
¤ After that they played RHIMA and also played Razorblade
Kiss, FOT, Solitary Man, Poison Girl, Its all tears, and
Join Me. They all seemed to be having a great time on stage
and before Join Me Valo said they were going to go off stage
after the next song so Mige could change his clothes because
he stunk so bad. Right before they started the song Valo
said he would want to join him in death while pointing to
Mige.
¤ I guess because he smelled so bad. After that
they went off stage and the fans started chanting for one
more song. So when they came back on they only played one
more song instead of their normal two. The song was Soul
On Fire and a mosh pit broke out a few rows in front of
me, Valo bowed to the crowd when it did.
¤ All in All it was a great show. I was glad to
hear Its All Tears. The guy next to me thought it was a
Black Sabbath cover and when I argued it he got offended.
I can't wait to see them in LA.
